Supporters from all over the world can take a look at what this charity is all about and can share their comments, thoughts, and experiences through these two social networking websites. With a Facebook application that displays the progress of the organization, Blanket America is on its way to helping more than a million cold needy families all over the United States of America.
Blanket America is a newly formed charitable organization with a goal to bridging the gap between business and charity. Its goal is to help needy families from different parts of the country with its Buy 1, Get 1 project. Its main product is a warm statement quilt known as the Patchwork Heritage Quilt and that for every quilt bought blankets are donated to poor families. Blanket America was able to get a good start thanks to a major partnership with Gifts and Kind International and support as well from major companies like Amazon.com, Fast Company, QVC, and JC Penney. With one million families as their main goal for the holidays, Blanket America is set to increasing that number all throughout the next year.
The Patchwork Heritage Quilt is a statement quilt unlike any other being sold in the market today. Inspired by the January 20, 2009 inaugural speech of President Barack Obama, the quilt is made not only as a decorative piece of bedding but as a way to spread the message of unity and strength to the American people despite the burdening presence of harsh poverty. The quilt’s front is designed with 13 different fabrics representing the 13 original colonies. At the back is the president’s inaugural speech printed on a beautiful Lady Liberty background.
